CHS AVT Students Capture Knights’ Intensity

Centennial Audio Visual Technology II and III students, under the direction of their teacher Mr. Buechner, worked very hard to create their first pre-game video of the year.  The video highlights the commitment and intensity of our Knights football players as they prepare for the season ahead.

CHS Student Carries the Olympic Torch

The Special Olympics are back in the United States after 14 years away, and Centennial’s Yoli Shields was the first to carry the torch in Alpharetta as the torch makes its way from Greece to Los Angeles in June.  Yoli’s team raised $20,000 for the event and were asked to pick up the torch at North Point Parkway. 1A police escort – made up of the Alpharetta and L.A. police departments – guided the runners through town, with the final goal of Los Angeles next month.

To keep up with the torch, visit www.specialolympics.org.

Meet the CHS SWAT Team

Providing a free tutoring service for any Centennial student who needs a little extra help with classwork or organization, the CHS SWAT team (Seniors Working and Tutoring) is available during both lunches in room F-24.   SWAT team members this semester are Andrea Cuellar, Jordan Winter, Alyssa Beck, Kashta Dallas, Gavin Frame, and Shivam Dullabh.

French Classes Energized by Guest Speakers

Yesterday two students from the volunteer program Up with People came to speak to students in AP French, French 4 Honors, and French 3 classes.  The speakers come from all over the world and generally participate in this program as a gap year between high school and college.  Speaking entirely in French, these volunteers spoke to “spark people into action in meeting the needs of their communities, countries and the world while building bridges of understanding as a foundation for world peace.” (www.upwithpeople.org)

CHS Boasts Bountiful Harvest

Last spring students in environmental science classes, along with the AP Environmental students, planted fruits, vegetables, and flowers in raised beds around our building.  Their hard work paid off with a bumper crop!
