Spanish Language Students Showcase
Creativity and Community Service

This semester Spanish language students completed a project that offered standards-based skills and creativity plus a community service component. They began by writing and reading Spanish language fable stories containing a moral lesson. The stories were then illustrated and made into children’s books.  Last week, along with their teachers Mr. Lopez and Ms. Badger, the students visited Kinder Care Learning Center and Children’s Ark Academy in Roswell to read their original Spanish fables to the pre-schoolers. Mr. Lopez began this project with students in another district, and he is happy to have Ms. Badger’s collaboration to bring it here to Centennial. Students and teachers had a great time reading their books and making new friends!

Centennial Fencers Earn Medal,
Points at Pope Tournament

Congratulations to the Centennial Fencing Team for another outstanding showing at the Pope High School Fencing Tournament on Saturday.    For the men, sophomore Nick Bray (pictured above left) brought home a Bronze medal in a talented field of 83 fencers.  Joshua “Paco” Yao scored points with another top 16 finish, his third in three tournaments this season.    The Centennial men have risen to the top 10 in the state.

The Centennial women were once again led by the dynamic trio of Casey Archambault (7th), Maggie Fritts (11th), and Karla Chavez (16th).   For Archambault, this represented her 3rd top 10 finish in three tournaments this season.   The points earned by these fencers have vaulted the women’s team to a number 6 ranking in the Georgia High School Fencing League.

The next competition for Centennial Fencing takes place on Halloween at Lambert High School.   GHSFL events are always free to the public.  Come out and support the Fencing Knights.
