Students Visit Roswell Jail/P.D. and SWAT


 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Approximately 30 of Centennial’s Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security students visited Roswell’s Jail, Police Department and SWAT. The students were able to tour the facilities and participate in a Q & A session with one of the SWAT and Community Relations officers. While students were touring, they witnessed a 911 in-home burglary call caught on camera for a local Roswell resident. Many of the LPSCS students seek employment in the law and justice field.

 

Tech Students Join Millions for Hour of Code


The Introduction to Digital Technology students participated in the globally observed Hour of Code this week.   The grassroots campaign’s goal is for tens of millions of students to try an Hour of Code during December 7-13, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week.  The session was introduced by Mr. Evan Adams, a Software Engineer with CareerBuilder.com.  Mr. Adams, a Javascript programmer, walked the students through creating a Star Wars programming game using Javascript.  At the end of the session, students received a programming certificate.

 

 

Art Students Visit Carlos Museum

 

 

Last week the AP Studio Art, AP Art History, and Art History I classes attended the Carlos Museum to see the Native Beauty Collection of Native American Art on loan to the museum.  Students were able to see first-hand artworks of some of the artists, such as Maria Martinez, included in the 250 iconic images of the AP Art History course.

Woodwinds Perform for Georgia School Board



 

Yesterday the CHS woodwind quintet performed at the Georgia School Board Association & Georgia Superintendent Association Convention.

CHS Students Perform at Underground Atlanta

 


 

Last week twelve Centennial band students performed in Tuba Christmas, an annual tradition at Underground Atlanta.

 

 

Group Makes Plans for CHS SPaCE

 


The week before Thanksgiving, students, teachers, and parents visited Ga Tech's Invention Studio and the Decatur Makerspace. It was a great and productive day learning about opportunities from these existing makerspaces.
