FBLA Students Receive State Leadership Awards
 

 




This past weekend several members of Future Business Leaders of America participated in the State’s Leadership Conference.  There were sessions on financial literacy, leadership, community service, and chapter management.  The conference provided students with the opportunity to meet and compete with FBLA members from all over the state.  The conference brought together more than 3,200 students to compete in well over 50 events.  The Centennial FBLA team was extremely competitive and placed in several categories.  Chris Payne placed in the top 10 for Impromptu Speaking.  Jay Bowler and Adrian Hoefer placed in the top 10 for Hospitality Management.  Juan Guzman placed 3rd in Business Calculations and will represent Centennial and Georgia at Nationals in June in Nashville.  Finally, Centennial received recognition as a Bronze Chapter of the Year.

Interact Wins District Awards


Centennial’s Interact Club competed against 10 other clubs and won three awards at the District 6900 Spring Conference. Awards earned: Best Service Project, Runner-Up Best International Project, and Runner-Up Best Scrapbook.

Certificate of Merit for their project "The Drive.”

won Superior and move on to the State  Competition
with their project "Be Careful Who You Drive With.”

Certificate of Merit for their project "Rivermuck.”

Jackson Earns All-Star MVP
 

 

Centennial senior Xavier Jackson earned the Most Valuable Player Award at the North/South All Star Game.  The game was held at Blessed Trinity and featured top players in North Fulton County/Forsyth County schools.  Xavier had 29 points for the South team.

 

 

Job Offered On the Spot!
 

 

 

Congratulations to Connor Bellcross, a Centennial CBI student,  for being offered a stock clerk position at a local Dollar Tree.  Connor has completed 2 years at our off campus class at Siemens and is currently participating in the Project SEARCH program,  another off campus class,  at North Fulton Hospital this school year.  Because of his hard work, determination, and obtained marketable skills sets, he was offered the job on the spot during his interview.

Centennial Interact Presents Check


 

CHS Interact Club President, Steed Castellanos, presented a check to Mayor Jere Woods for $75.00 for the Roswell Reads Beautification Project. The donation was presented during a luncheon on Saturday with Decatur author Joshilyn Jackson. The CHS Interact Club will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and will be included in a listing at Waller Park.

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SkillsUSA Leaders Earn State Awards

 

The 2014 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference “Champions at Work – Educated and Skilled to Lead America” took place this past weekend.  This conference allowed students to participate in leadership training and compete in various work force areas showcasing their “skills.” These students of tomorrow’s work force possess the skills, leadership and desire to make a positive impact on Georgia.  Please congratulate the following students for placing in a contest at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference. Students competed against hundreds of other SkillsUSA students in the state of Georgia. The students who placed first will go on to the national level in June. Brandon Hamilton, our state Parliamentarian (a CHS senior) and Brandi Terrell, CHS SkillsUSA Advisor, received awards as well.

Centennial Juniors Volunteer for Syrian Cause

 

This past weekend, Sandra Alhabbal, Victoria Zhou, and Kendal Blair volunteered as servers for a Syrian Orphan Benefit dinner.  The junior girls are currently researching the Syrian conflict and refugees.  They interviewed the dinner's guest speaker, and they worked the benefit dinner to help the cause that has caught their hearts.

Jerkovic Wins Third at State


Centennial junior Boris Jerkovic won third place at the State Robotics Competition in Macon last week.  Boris has been competing in robotics competitions since elementary school.  This year he created a robot that climbs stairs one step at a time.  Congratulations!

 

Simmons Wins Mac Book Pro

 
Centennial senior Stephan Simmons is the Chevy Drive for Perfection Mid-Year Prize Winner and will receive a Mac Book Pro valued up to $1,500.  Stephan was entered into the drawing, along with hundreds of others from across Georgia, after achieving excellent attendance from the first day of school through January 17, 2014. Seniors who attend 98-percent or more school days (from the first day of school through April 15, 2014) will be recognized during an End-of-Year Event where one student will walk away with a brand new Chevy Cruze or Sonic, valued up to $20,000.00. Centennial’s partnering dealership is AutoNation Chevrolet Northpoint in Alpharetta, GA (part of the Atlanta dealer marketing association). Congratulations to Stephan!

Fencing League Championships

Billue Honored with Fire Chief’s Performance Coin

 

Senior Allie Billue, who has been job shadowing at the Sandy Springs Fire Department since October, created a Career Health Display on firefighting.  Chief McElfish (shown in the picture with Allie) watched her present the display and awarded her with a Fire Chief's Recognition of Performance coin. Great job, Allie!

Centennial Celebrates “C.T.E. Superheroes Week”

 

 


 

Centennial’s Career Technical Education Department welcomed approximately 25 guest speakers on Thursday. Students heard presentations from  the Army, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard; a Celebrity Fitness Trainer; Environmental Education Specialists;  Motivational Speakers; a Park Ranger; Roswell Fire, Police, and Forensics Departments; a Veterinarian;  College Readiness/Prep Tools Consultants; and Learning Style Consultants, to name a few.
