Foster and Phillips Earn
Georgia Dugout Club Honor




                 

 

In April, Chad Foster (left) and Hunter Phillips (right), members of the varsity baseball team, were honored at the Georgia Dugout Club’s Outstanding Season Awards breakfast for their 2014 Centennial High School baseball season.  Both were given plaques in recognition of this honor and were recommended to the Georgia Dugout Club’s All-State Senior Games. Both boys were 2014 honor graduates and are moving on to play college baseball:  Chad to the University of West Georgia and Hunter to Alabama State University.   Congratulations!

Miller Family Celebrates Sixth
Centennial Graduate



Craig and Carolyn Miller mark a milestone this year as they celebrate their sixth child graduating from Centennial.  They have had a child at CHS since the doors opened in 1997. Their children are Megan, Ben, Hamilton, Mallory, Alex, and Carson.  The Millers “thank Centennial for preparing all of [their] children for their next steps in life.”

 

Shirazi Ranks 6th State/US 96th Percentile


Congratulations to Shaking Shirazi who scored in the 96th percentile on the National Spanish Exam and earned 6th place in Georgia.

Mr. Kuhn Shares His Expertise


 
b Kuhn was invited by The Howard Hughes Medical Institution Biointeractive to present their short film and curriculum materials regarding lactase as a recent human adaptation at the National Science Teachers of America STEM conference in New Orleans, May 14-16. He was one of three professionals speaking for the HHMI on evolution, gene regulation and cancer/autism. This conference presentation and a future presentation at the National Association of Biology Teachers conference in November are part of the BSCS AP Biology Leadership Academy professional development. Bob will also be hosting a local workshop at Kennesaw State University in June.

 

 

 

 


 


Chemistry Students Win County STEM Contest
Congratulations to Stephanni Prelac and her students Sam Turrentine (left) and Cael Willis (right) who won the NELC STEM Day Competition. Sam and Cael built a water molecule structure using only gum drops and toothpicks.  Their structure held at 17 inches for over 30 seconds, which made it the tallest standing structure submitted to the county for National STEM day.  Ms. Prelac won a $150.00 shopping spree for classroom STEM materials.

 

 

 

 

 


FBLA Community Service Continues

Centennial’s Future Business Leaders of America added one more service project to the year by collecting jars of peanut butter to be distributed in our community through the North Fulton Food Bank. Pictured is Kevin Schoenblum with some of the donations.  

 

 

Davis and Kamanga Earn Summer Opportunity

 

                                    
Assata Davis (top photo) and Mbalwani Kamanga (bottom photo) were recently notified that they had been accepted to the highly competitive Gate City Bar Association's Justice Robert Benham Law Camp. Congratulations!
