Centennial Student Impacts Hillside
This past Monday Hillside
Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with Read Across America Day. For this event, the Hillside Media Center staff
invited members of the community to read to the students.
Among the members of the
community was a Centennial student named Yesie, a totally blind student who is
part of the Community Based Instruction (CBI) program. Yesie was invited
to read a book in braille to groups of 3rd graders. After
reading the story, Yesie talked to the students about braille. Seated
next to Yesie is her teacher, Michael Silverman, showing the book in print.
