Fritts Leads Strong Fencing Performances
at Dunwoody Tournament

The Centennial Fencing Team competed in their fifth tournament on Saturday, November 14th, in Dunwoody.

Sophomore Maggie Fritts led the Lady Knights with a medal winning performance.  Fritts’ third place finish propelled her to a top ten individual standing in the state.  Sophomore Olivia Katz had an outstanding tournament, earning 4 pool victories and coming within one point of reaching the final sixteen.

The Knights Men were led by Senior Captain Joshua Yao, who continued his outstanding season by finishing a career best 6th. Yao has earned points in every tournament this season.  Sophomore Nick Bray achieved his third consecutive top 10 result with another strong performance. Congratulations to Duncan Hemauer.  His 15th place performance in the field of 100 secured points for his team and qualified Hemauer for the individual championships in February.

Coach Gene Gettler remains pleased with the progress of the squad. The Knights next tournament is hosted by Johns Creek HS December 5th.
