Congratulations to the Centennial Fencing Club for their
outstanding showing this weekend. In
addition to fine fencing performances by the Knights, the club hosted an
excellent tournament for the Georgia High School Fencing League.
For the first time this season, the Knights men placed three
fencers in the top 10 (in a field of 85 fencers). Knights highlights included
an 8th place finish by sophomore Daniel Sandfelder. Sandfelder earned the first points of his
career, qualifying him for the GHSFL individual tournament. Fellow 10th grader Nick Bray led
the Knights men with a 6th place finish. Senior Simon Miller (10th) scored
his 4th top ten result this season. Joseph
Dorfman (20th) and Jermain Leon (23rd) posted career best
results, narrowly missing the top 16.
Sophomore Maggie Fritts (5th place) earned her
seventh top 10 finish of the season.
Fritts led all female fencers in the preliminary pools, going undefeated
with an indicator of plus 18. Freshman
Sarah Harrison had another solid performance (22nd) while Chloe
Lecates (35th) earned the best result of her career.
This tournament concluded the regular season for the
Knights. Next up is the individual Championship
on February 20th at Johns Creek High School.
