Governor's Honors Finalists Announced

Congratulations to these Centennial students who were offered an invitation to the Governor's Honors Program (GHP) this summer. Only 1% of sophomores and juniors in Georgia are nominated to the state level for the program.  GHP is a cost-free, four-week, summer residential program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities.  Students are first nominated in one of twenty areas by their teachers.  Along with completing an extensive application process, students are interviewed at the district level, and their skills are evaluated by essay, Socratic seminar, artwork, or performance.  From there, students are selected to go on to the state level for another set of interviews and evaluations to select the state finalists.  Pictured:  Marisa Beasley - Art; Ben Bradley - Social Studies; Sophia Steinberg - Spanish; Margaret Howell - French; Amanda Hamilton - Music (viola); Alex Yankey - Communicative Arts (English).
