Mock Trial Earns Outstanding Awards

On Friday, the Centennial HS Mock Trial Team competed at the 2015 Georgia Mock Trial Competition in Forsyth County for the first time. Our students competed against teams from many of Georgia's public and private high schools. The students were coached by volunteer attorneys (Joseph Wilson and Amy Refeca) and team sponsor Brandi Terrell. Students played the roles of attorneys and witnesses based on the witness statements and evidence provided in case materials created by attorneys and judges. Professional attorneys and judges served as the Presiding Judges and Evaluators (jury). Teams were evaluated on their ability to make a logical, cohesive and persuasive presentation, and some legal merits of the case. Our students competed in Rounds I and II. All of them performed extremely well receiving “Honorable Mentions” and three “Outstanding Attorney and Witness” Awards.
