Centennial Boasts First and Second Place in Regional Competition

The  SkillsUSA Regionals were held last Friday.  Rachel Howell earned First Place in Extemporaneous Speaking which required her to give a three to five minute speech on an assigned topic with only 5 minutes of advance preparation; she was judged on voice, mechanics, platform development, organization, and effectiveness. Parker Melton earned Second Place in Computer Maintenance Technology which required project coding and output, a skill-related written test, an interview, and a computer maintenance diagnostic exam. Both students will advance to the State Level in March.  Kudos to CHS SkillsUSA student members, Matt Miles, and Brandi Terrell for providing lunch to over 400 contestants, observers, and judges that day.
